A 58 MW power plant supplied and constructed in Argentina by the technology group Wärtsilä under a full engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract has commenced commercial operations in the
GE''s technology will increase performance of the two GT26 AB gas turbines powering Enel Argentina''s Central Dock Sud plant aiming to add over 100 megawatts (MW) of power, improving efficiency, and helping to
Argentina''s domestic natural gas production has been rising steadily in the past three years, largely because of increasing production from the Neuquén Basin''s Vaca Muerta shale and tight gas play. Production from Vaca
Natural gas is Argentina''s most important energy source, and Argentina has the second-largest proved reserves of natural gas in South America (after Venezuela). Pumped Storage : 750: Cerros Colorados: Conventional : 450:
In 2022, the United States had two concentrating solar thermal-electric power plants, with thermal energy storage components with a combined thermal storage-power capacity of 450 MW.
Powered by GE''s most advanced 6F gas turbine technology, the new 90 MW block will generate power and steam to increase the efficiency of one the largest petrochemical complexes in Argentina and Latin America.
The technology group Wärtsilä has been selected to supply a highly efficient engine power plant for one of the most important petroleum companies in Argentina. The gas fired plant will have an initial output of 57.4

Argentina is conducting feasibility studies to identify potential natural gas storage sites. From 1990 through 2007, Argentina was a net exporter of natural gas. Since then, Argentina has been importing more natural gas both by pipeline (mainly from Bolivia) and as LNG.
Argentina’s domestic natural gas production has been rising steadily in the past three years, largely because of increasing production from the Neuquén Basin’s Vaca Muerta shale and tight gas play. Production from Vaca Muerta surpassed 1.0 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) in December 2018.
The system selected for the study is the Argentine Storage System, composed mainly by the pumped energy storage technology and the natural gas storage system through pipelines. Five scenarios are studied. According to the obtained results, pumped storage system constitutes a reserve of 0.4% of the total generated power.
The growth in Argentina’s shale and tight gas production has partially offset declines in its natural gas production from mature fields. Production from Vaca Muerta accounts for about 23% of Argentina’s total gross natural gas production.
Wärtsilä currently has 600 MW of installed generating capacity in Argentina, and 3,630 MW of capacity throughout South America. With the Central Térmica Manantiales Behr plant included, Wärtsilä has successfully completed eight projects on time and on budget during the past four years in Argentina.
Powered by GE’s 6F gas turbine technology, the new cogeneration plant is expected to add approximately 90 megawatts (MW) to the existing 128 MW powering La Plata Industrial Complex (CILP), and it’s expected to become the cogeneration complex with the highest capacity output in Argentina.
