In the 2013 National Energy Strategy (NES), Italy established energy aims to achieve by 2020 that rises the 17% EU target for renewable energy in final energy consumption to 19% or 20%. Energy efficiency, but also renewable energies, plays an important role for this strategy.

Italy''s solar power capacity rose by 1.7 gigawatts (GW) in the first quarter to 32 GW thanks to a jump in the development of large projects, the country''s association for the photovoltaic sector
According to data from Eni''s World Energy Review 2021, Italy was ranked sixth in the world for installed photovoltaic capacity in 2020 while, at a national level, solar energy is the most widely used renewable source after
6 天之前· Italy just recently held its first ever tender for agrivoltaics, and it was a big one! Bel Paese awarded contracts for 1.5 gigawatts of agrivoltaics solar projects within its borders.

According to Eurostat, approximately 11.6% of Italy’s electricity now comes from solar energy, while 8.8% is generated from wind power, making Italy one of Europe’s leaders in renewable energy. However, these impressive numbers represent just the beginning.
Italy currently maintains various concentrated solar power (CSP) projects. Concentrated solar power plants concentrate solar energy into single points of collection with, for instance, mirrors, to maximise energy capture. Four types of CSP technologies are currently available on the market.
The other type, solar thermal generation, which uses sunlight to directly heat fluids (often water), does exist but does not account for a significant proportion. In fact, according to ENEA, it is just over 1% of Italy’s thermal energy production. Where are Italy’s photovoltaic plants?

The leading region in Italy, at least in the start-up phase, is Sicily, but in general, projects and experiments are being launched for the entire southern part of the country, both for domestic and industrial energy use. By Benedetta Palazzo
To achieve these targets, Italy has set ambitious plans to further increase its solar and wind energy capacity. By 2030, Italy aims to produce at least 30% of its total energy from renewable sources, with a significant portion of this coming from solar and wind power.
