Currently, the electricity mix is nearly 50% renewable but the entire energy system is highly dependent on fossil fuels and biomass. This work aims to show potential for a renewable transformation of the Nicaraguan energy system.
Since 2008, GRID’s International Program has brought solar electricity and improved cookstoves to 55 communities in Nicaragua, Nepal and Mexico benefiting more than 66,000 people.
GRID offers a classroom in the field that teaches international participants about sustainable development and energy access solutions.
