6 FAQs about [Australia emsa energy]

Who is EMSA?

We are a team of passionate people whose goal is to improve the effectiveness of NRM and ecological monitoring in Australia. What is EMSA guidance material?

This document includes descriptions of a range of Ecological Monitoring System Australia (EMSA) guidance material, which has been prepared to assist with selection of EMSA modules in future Natural Heritage Trust projects. Please contact the MERI team (LTMP@dcceew.gov.au) if you require any further information.

How does EMSA work?

The EMSA protocols are supported by tools to collect and deliver data to the Australian Government’s Biodiversity Data Repository, and the data collected will inform various management, policy and research outcomes. If playback doesn't begin shortly, try restarting your device.

Why is EMSA important?

EMSA is designed to address limitations in previous NRM programs that made quantification of environmental change difficult. In the past, environmental occurrences were measured or estimated using disparate and often incompatible methods, particularly over a range of geographic scales, and inefficiencies in data provision and analysis were common.

Can EMSA modules be used on the site?

EMSA modules that require prior completion of the Plot selection and layout module cannot be used on the site. The delivery partner may choose to apply for an exemption through the EMSA Protocol Advisory Group to use alternative monitoring protocols for the project. All other EMSA modules are optional for this project.

How many EMSA modules are there?

The 24 modules cover several ecological focus areas. Read more about the modules or visit the EMSA homepage for instructional manuals and videos. You can use the EMSA modules to record monitoring data and interventions. If you’ve received Natural Heritage Trust funding, you may be required to use a subset of the 24 modules.
