From the approval situation: Since the “14th Five-Year Plan” in central China, a total of 25 pumped storage projects have been approved, with an approved installed capacity of 33.496 gigawatts, ranking the most in the geographical region of the country.

Under the huge market demand, more and more survey and design units have entered the field of pumped storage, forming competitive pressure on traditional pumped storage design units. Un-staffed operation should only be considered when robust fail safe systems, procedures and processes are in place to support unattended operation.
Pumped storage hydropower projects use electricity to store potential energy by moving water between an upper and lower reservoir. Using electricity from the grid to pump water from a lower elevation, PSH creates potential energy in the form of water stored at an upper elevation, which is why it is often referred to as a “water battery”.
