Hamilton Sundstrand Power Systems, also known as APIC, has been in the large commercial transport APU business since the delivery of the first APS2000 APU in 1989. However, HSPS has a much longer history in the gas turbine design business, delivering APUs to the U.S. military since 1959.
On 2 January 2008, Hamilton Sundstrand said it would commercialize the concentrated solar power tower technology and corresponding molten salt storage system developed by Rocketdyne through a new entity known as SolarReserve. In 2012, Hamilton Sundstrand was merged with Goodrich Corporation to form UTC Aerospace Systems.
