Our operations include 124MW power barges Doctor Bird I and Doctor Bird II in Old Harbour Bay, a 65.5MW heavy fuel oil power plant in West Kingston, and 60MW slow-speed twin diesel generators in East Kingston.
JPS buys electricity from two Independent Power Producers (IPPs): Jamaica Private Power Company (JPPC) and Wigton Wind Farm Limited*. JPPC currently provides approximately 60 Megawatts of electricity, and its power plant is located on Windward Road in Kingston. Wigton Wind Farm Limited is another IPP from which JPS purchases electricity.*
