JBM Solar was acquired from London-based renewables investor Susgen. The acquisition underpins RWE’s ambition to rigorously drive the expansion of its renewables business in the United Kingdom, one of RWE’s core markets.
RWE, the UK’s largest power generator and one of the largest renewables developers, has significantly expanded its solar and battery capabilities by acquiring JBM Solar, a large independent developer of solar and battery storage systems.
“I’m very pleased to welcome our new colleagues from JBM Solar and to jointly drive forward the green expansion of RWE in the UK.” The deal will add a mature pipeline of more than 6GWac to RWE’s portfolio, including 3.8GWac of solar capacity and 2.3GWac worth of battery storage projects.
Along with the acquisition of JBM, the company has already set its sights on expanding its own portfolio of solar sites in the UK as part of this investment, announcing plans for an up to 600MW solar development on land in south Yorkshire and north Lincolnshire in December, for example.
The projects, Eastfields and Bunker’s Hill, have a combined solar capacity of 102MWp, and 65MWac of dc-coupled batteries. This sale closed off a great year at JBM, and we’re excited for a lot more to come in 2023. Wishing all of our connections a healthy and Happy New Year! #renewables #renewableenergy #solar #energystorage #PV #BESS #CFD
This means that the first solar and battery storage projects could be operational as early as end of 2024. It is expected that on average about 450 megawatts (MWac) per year will be commissioned. “We are already well positioned in offshore and onshore wind in the UK.
We are deeply committed to excellence in all our endeavors.
Since we maintain control over our products, our customers can be assured of nothing but the best quality at all times.
