Energy Renaissance designs and manufactures high performance battery technology and battery energy storage systems (BESS) that are uniquely built to meet the demands of Australian conditions. We provide safe, affordable,
None of our scrapped lithium-ion batteries go to landfills and 100% are recycled. Furthermore, Tesla has an established internal ecosystem to re-manufacture batteries coming
Electric vehicle batteries that are still functional can be repurposed for energy storage systems and provide backup power for homes and businesses. Also, recycling companies can extract
This enhanced safety makes solid-state batteries particularly attractive for applications in aircraft, public transportation, and grid storage. Higher Energy Density: Solid-state batteries can

The UK government has exempted retrofitted battery energy storage systems (BESS) from its 20% VAT, starting 1 February 2024. Since the Spring Statement in 2022, energy saving domestic equipment such as heat
The company is one of several that are scrambling to build recycling plants that can recover minerals from electric vehicle batteries without using dirty techniques like burning
Not all electric-vehicle batteries are hitting the scrap heap when they're done in cars. Come the end of the road, when the lithium-ion battery can no longer provide the driving range and acceleration required to power a vehicle, it still holds up to 80 per cent of its storage capability.
But environmental advocates see a huge opportunity in recycling. "Battery recycling can play, in the long run, a really big role in making electric vehicles more sustainable," says Dale Hall of the International Council on Clean Transportation. "Decades from now, we'll need very little new virgin raw materials to build new EVs.
With cell manufacturing scrap being as high as 30 percent when a new battery factory launches, a significant source of volume for recycling evolves in markets where EV battery manufacturing is kicking into high gear. In markets where EV adoption has been pervasive for some time, such as China, end-of-life EV batteries represent a greater volume.
Nevertheless, spent batteries may also present an opportunity as manufacturers require access to strategic elements and critical materials for key components in electric-vehicle manufacture: recycled lithium-ion batteries from electric vehicles could provide a valuable secondary source of materials.
Furthermore, an economy of scale is to be anticipated when recycling electric vehicle batteries in bulk. Similarly, reclaimed energy might make a useful contribution to the profitability of repurposing for second use (see section ‘Battery assessment and disassembly’).
Meanwhile, automakers and battery companies, as they build new battery and EV plants across North America, want recycling close by; they'll have a lot of batteries to scrap in the years ahead as electric vehicle sales rise.
