Is the ZF 15400 better than the JF 15500?
ZF improved greatly improved on this area of their rep. The dial tappisserie has a gradual slope unlike the JF which has sharp corners on each square. The ZF 15400 shares the same tappisserie pattern consistently with their 15500 and 15202 reps which are closest to gen compared to JF and the XF 15202.
Is the Miyota 9015 better than the ZF 15400?
The finishing for the movement is average and the date wheel starts flipping as early as 10pm - which is even earlier than the Miyota 9015 used in the ZF. Don't bother considering the JF 15400 anymore. It hasn't been updated in almost 3+ years and the ZF is superior in every way. Really?
Should I buy ZF 15500 or APS dial?
Dial is closer to gen. ZF 15500 dials are considered the closest to gen atm. APS dials are great but lacking of the sunburst compared with ZF and gen. So at the same price, I would take ZF since I don’t have to change the dial. It really comes down to which flaw bothers you the most. I hope ZF fixes the misspelling in the next batch.
Does ref 15500 make a difference?
Now, this has the added effect of making the watch thicker too, with the ref. 15500 measuring in at 10.4mm top to bottom instead of 9.8mm. Whether or not this makes any difference is yet to be seen, but we'll be looking for it when we see these in the metal soon.
