The accurate estimation of the SOC and state of health (SOH) of batteries holds paramount significance in modern battery management systems and is primarily driven by the increasing demand for robust, efficient, and reliable energy storage solutions.
The battery state space model based SoC estimation techniques are being developed considering the online estimation of battery SoC such as KF, EKF, UKF and EnKF and H-infinity SoC estimation approaches.
As the SoC is one of the most important states to be known to optimise the battery performance and extend the lifetime of batteries, several SoC estimation approaches has been reported in the literature .
In the context of energy storage systems (ESS), where accurate SoC estimation is crucial, CC-based techniques and IS-based play a significant role. Additionally, hybrid SoC estimation methods have emerged as a promising approach, combining traditional, filter/observer-based techniques and data-driven strategies.
