Wellington North Solar Farm is a ground-mounted solar project which is planned over 970 hectares. The project is expected to generate 700,000MWh electricity and supply enough clean energy to power 125,000 households. The project is expected to offset 560,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year.
The acquisition, valued at $813 million, encompasses a 1037MWdc solar portfolio, comprising operational projects in Wellington, West Wyalong, and Woolooga, with Wellington North and Wunghnu projects slated to commence operations in the latter half of 2024.
The portfolio, which amounts to a total of 1.04 GW (dc), includes the Wellington, West Wyalong and Woolooga projects which are already in operation, and the Wellington North and Wunghnu solar projects which are due to be be operational in the second half of 2024.
